A home for community in clay

Wattle/Poop Windbreak at Pine Meadows Ranch – Workshops

Over the course of 3 workshops days, community members were invited out to Pine Meadows Ranch in Sisters, Oregon to learn how to use willow and cow dung in construction. The design of the windbreak considers the needs of the space (the garden needs protection from strong winds coming down the pasture) and what is abundant on the land (willow, juniper, and cow dung).

This windbreak aims to slow the oncoming wind, and will be a catalyst for continued community interaction through caretaking and stewardship. It is a living structure, one that will adapt and expand to the needs and desires of the space (and the birds)!
