A home for community in clay

Wattle/Poop Windbreak at Pine Meadows Ranch – 2025

This windbreak was constructed during a stay at Pine Meadow’s Ranch Center for Arts and Agriculture in Sisters, Oregon, as part of their 2025 Care and Stewardship residency cycle.

The windbreak was constructed using juniper for posts, alder and willow for wattle, and cow dung, site soil, wheat paste, and pine needles for infill/daub. Community members were invited out to 3 workshop days, where we wove the willow branches and used the dung mixture. Check out more info on the structure and workshops here.
