These movable interior walls were constructed using the wattle-and-daub method – a predecessor to the modern day “plaster-lath” technique. Roundwood pieces and bush honeysuckle are used to weave a framework, to which a mixture of site-soil, sand, and straw is applied.
Typically a method used in the construction of partition and exterior walls, these moveable platforms investigate potential non-traditional applications – Can natural walls like these become part of more conventionally constructed interiors? Could these moveable walls become additions to office spaces, municipal buildings, etc.? How does bringing the outside in affect the mental health of those occupying the space?
