This cob oven stands at Manheim Gardens as a gathering space for community and garden members. The oven is used at Harvest Festivals, Solstice and Equinox celebrations, and many other events hosted at the Gardens. This project continues to evolve as new opportunities for adornment, repair, and caretaking present themselves – as a focal point in a communal space, it begs stewardship of those in the neighborhood and at the Gardens.
Manheim Gardens is a 501(c)(3) community garden in the heart of the Manheim Neighborhood, located in Midtown Kansas City, MO. The Cob Oven at Manheim Gardens was completed in Fall of 2024 after 4 rounds of community workshop engagements. For more information, and to see more documentation of the workshops, please check out the Cob Oven at Manheim Gardens – Workshops page.
